Cathy -- I just have to tell you that I think this writing is brilliant! Skillful use of creative tension and conflict.

And your "Going Song" is the perfect 'glue' that lends a gentle cohesion to the piece. Nice!

I found this through the ADR; I love it! I have Type 1 diabetes myself, so it did make me flinch a bit. I'd love to read more about Cairen and Trevor and their lives.

As a 69 y old male w type 2, I was deeply moved by your story. Shortly after reading this I stumbled on this on Guy Mcpherson's blog,

double wow.

Thanks for your talented story telling.

Thanks for the comments, folks! And thanks, JMG, for allowing all of us to share our stories! I never thought I'd find anyone who would read this... as someone who takes daily medication, I have thought about this scenario a lot!!

That was well-written and thought-provoking. Will there be more? I hope so.

Nice story Cathy! It is my favorite of the ones I've read so far.
And thanks for your nice comment on mine.

Agree with everyone up above. The dialogue flows so well too. Coming to terms with death is a great theme to have selected for the contest.

p.s. As as short story, how would it read if you jumped straight into the third paragraph to start? A very mind-grabbing image, that!

Very nice. Was a little confused at first but the story flows well and I was soon wanting more. Well done.

Congrats on being in the anthology. Do let us ADR readers know when there's a follow up, please!

This is excellent. You obviously have a great ear for dialogue and a good feel for balancing it with the narrative. Congrats on the "space bats" anthology. Really, both of your entries could've probably made it.

I hope you'll continue with the prose and possibly publish your own collection. Again, congrats and great job :)
